Ouidah

Ouidah is a historical city in Benin.
The city of Ouidah is known for its role as a slave trading port and Portuguese fort through the 17th and 18th century. It was made famous by Chatwin's "The Viceroy of Ouidah".
The city nowadays packs several interesting colonial buildings, a Portuguese slave trading fort and the famous Voodoo Temple of the Sacred Python.
Ouidah is a major Voodoo center and it is considered the Voodoo capital of Benin. This traditional religion is and the religion followed by the largest group of its inhabitants.
