Placencia is a seaside village resort in Belize in Central America.
The village and resort of Placencia are a fast developing, still not discovered by mass tourism spots of Belize coastline. The village is situated on a small peninsula with the same name, which boast with more than 26 km of sandy beaches. In close proximity are also Mayan ruins and wonderful diving spots that are difficult to find elsewhere.
The resort areas around the village of Placencia are still under development and it is just a matter of time for the small ex-pirate village to become one of the major resorts of Belize. Until then the visitor still may be able to test the tranquil live of this picturesque village.
When visiting Placencia and if you are in for more action you are advised to try and time your visit for Halloween or the Lobster Festival (June or July) as then the place is livened by festivities and visitors.
