Belize is one of the smallest countries in Central America, and one of the few with English as an official language
The country of Belize is quite different from most of the neighboring countries mainly due to specific nature and history. Historically it is an ex British colony, which makes it more closer to Caribbean British dominions, that to neighboring Spanish speaking nations
The nature of Belize also is remarkable, as it is the home of the second biggest barrier coral reef in the world and biggest in the western hemisphere. Belize is also the country with biggest percentage of the territory covered by natural reserves - a busting 40% from this small country
All the natural advantages of Belize made the country a world known destination for diving and reef observation as well as for nature lovers from all over the world. Adding to this the fact that there are more than 600 ancient Mayan archaeological sites in Belize to be explored it is obvious that a visit to this country is a must
