Brugge is considered one of the most preserved medieval towns in Europe. It is of ten called Venice of the north due to its canals and numerous old houses. It is one of the most visited tourist destinations of Belgium, especially in the summer.
Brugge is full of museums holding some of the country's finest collections of Flemish art, and its intimate, winding streets, woven around the narrow canals surrounded with gorgeous ancient buildings, are certainly a site to see.
When visiting Brugge the most logical start of your tour are the 2 central squares - the Markt, overlooked by the mighty belfry, and the Burg, rounded by the city's most impressive architectural legacy. Other landmarks of Brugge are the city's three main museums, St Janshospitaal with its paintings, the Onze Lieve Vrouwekerk and Sint Salvatorskathedraal churches.
You can taste the spirit of the city and in 1 day trip, but we recommend to stay a bit longer and to enjoy fully the atmosphere of a real medieval city.
