Al Muharraq is the second largest city in Bahrain, The Middle East.
The city of Al Muharraq is placed on the island of Muharraq and is full of ancient history and modern landmarks. In this place there was a settlement from ancient times, but its inhabitants changed through the years. Firstly it was colonized by the Selucid Greeks, which held it like a religious center in their shark cult. Later it was the center of the Nestorian Christian heresy and served like this to the rice of the Islam. Later it was used from the local Arab tribes as one of the important religious centers in the aria.
Nowadays Al Muharraq contains evidence of its long history, combined with the modern development of the Kingdom of Bahrain, as near-by are placed several man build islands with extensive modern architecture. Other remarkable facts about Al Muharraq include that it holds the International Airport of Bahrain, it serves as the cultural center of the area and has one of the most traditional souk markets.
