Andorra la Vella

Andorra la Vella is the capital and biggest settlement of Andorra.
The town of Andorra la Vella is one of the best places for shopping in Europe due to its extensive network of shops and the duty free trade practiced in Andorra. It is also a good base for exploring the mountains of Andorra around it, with good hiking opportunities in the summer and excellent skiing and snowboarding in the winter.
Andorra la Vella itself has several interesting landmarks including the oldest church in the country - Santa Coloma, which was build in the 10th century and upgraded with 12th century circular bell tower. Another landmark is the Casa de la Vall, the ancient seat of government, build in the 16th century with nice Gothic frescoes of the Passion of Christ. There are also many examples of traditional Romanesque architecture, which deserve a walk through the holiday streets of Andorra la Vella.
